in Harmony Retreats
Sophrology - your pathway to a calmer, happier, and more empowered you
In Harmony currently offers three different types of retreats each year. One of the locations for the retreats is the beautiful Cober Hill Hotel set in 11 acres of stunning grounds, a short walk to the sea in the North Yorkshire Moors Country Park.
Cober Hill Hotel
Cober Hill Hotel is a Victorian mansion, steeped in history and set in 11 acres of stunning grounds. Nestled in the North York Moors National Park and Heritage Coast, ensures breath taking views, both of the sea and the beautiful grounds. The hotel offers really comfortable en suite accommodation. The food is excellent at Cober Hill, they source local produce and produce dishes with seasonal foods to ensure freshness, flavour and good nutrition with each meal, and they can cater for all dietary needs.
The outside grounds are an excellent way to spend time on a fine day, taking in the beautiful scenery, including the high scots pine trees surrounding the front lawns, the stunning sea views at the back of the hotel leading down to the winding paths to the secret garden towards the sea, provide plenty of opportunity for inspiration, contemplation, peace and tranquillity. I find that just being at Cober Hill can be a tonic in itself, see the photo above of Cober Hill Hotel in the summer. To find out more about Cober Hill Hotel please visit their website .

“The way you eat is inseparable from your core beliefs about being alive. Your relationship with food is an exact mirror of your feelings about love, anger, fear, meaning and transformation.” Geneen Roth
These retreats are for any women who has a dysfunctional relationship with food, whether you have been on a constant diet all your life, compulsively overate, or generally felt like you are having to keep constant control of what, how and when you eat, this retreat might be for you. We can find that for some of us as we take an inner journey into the most deepest core of who we are, and back to the past, we find that the 'dysfunction' with food started out as something functional, offering the small child within us some benefit for eating the way we do. I offer these retreats, from my own journey of having had a dysfunctional relationship with food and found freedom with food through learning to love myself.
“The Women, Food & Freedom journey gave me all the insight, tools and confidence I needed to face into my own relationship with food. I feel so much happier, calmer and more confident in myself and my life. Thank you so much Carla!” Kate
The ‘Women, Food & Freedom’ journey offers a path to not only have a better relationship with food, but also with yourself, it is a return to love. Through developing awareness and understanding more deeply our relationship with food, and therefore ourselves and our environment, participants will receive lots of ‘aha’ moments, realisations into their own behaviour with food, including self-sabotaging behaviours, self-harm and control.
During the retreat weekend we will gently explore our relationship with food using Sophrology along with other modalities to help uncover what is beneath the surface of our behaviours, helping to free ourselves from long standing negative beliefs, habits and self-imposed restrictions, such as dieting, to find a natural bliss and joy that comes from having a healthy relationship with food. The retreat isn’t about weight loss as such, although it is something that can, and typically does occur naturally when we improve our relationship with food, and with ourselves. You will be joined by other like-minded women and there will be plenty of opportunity to share experiences along the way.
During these 2 days together you will:
Learn how to tune in to your relationship with food
Begin to come home to the body so you can listen to what it truly wants
Discover the difference between physical and emotional hunger
Identify the reasons why you turned to food in the first place (you’ll realise that it’s actually a very intelligent reaction)
Acknowledge food patterns, triggers, and how to make changes
Explore beliefs around food and how they may have shaped your experience
Learn techniques and tools to help you break habits that no longer serve and re-direct your energy
Begin to treat yourself with kindness and re-shape the inner critic
At the end of the retreat you will leave with a new found confidence in yourself, having developed a greater awareness of your relationship with food, how you can change what is not working for you, and, most importantly, begin the journey of releasing the inner turmoil the battle with food brings, so you can reclaim your power and no longer rely on food as a way to cope.
Group numbers are kept to a minimum, typically between 12 and 14, to allow an intimacy to develop as the group bonds during the weekend. This retreat is delivered at Cober Hill Hotel.. To book a place please contact Carla on 07884 101164 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Early bird price if booked by 01 July 2021 £395, thereafter the price is £450. To book your place please pay a non-refundable deposit of £90. The price also includes a half day on-line preparation workshop two weeks before the retreat.
For those women who would like to take this journey on a more personal level please get in touch with Carla on 07884 101164 or email for further information about the coaching available.
From Anger to Joy Retreat
‘A gentle journey of awareness, acceptance and letting go’
Science is now recognising how repressed emotions play a part in some chronic conditions and even cancer, particularly due to the repression of anger. Emotions have a direct impact on hormones, the important chemical messengers of the mind-body. When emotions are not expressed, these important chemical messages do not get to where they need to go. Like all of the emotions that we humans can experience, anger is healthy, however it can often be supressed in some people. The purpose of this retreat is to act as a safe space in which to be aware, explore, understand, and learn ways to deal with anger, and begin to let go of inner anger when it feels appropriate, so we can more easily access our joy.
When we start to get in touch with the full range of our emotions, we can begin to live a much more genuine and authentic life, as well as having a direct positive impact on our health and wellbeing, and indeed being able to express all of our emotions is critical to our wellbeing. What we find when we do start to express the full range of emotions, including, and, particularly anger, is an underlying inner peace, as well as the feeling of joy.
Underneath anger is our authentic power, our genuine passion - when we start to feel anger, and we don’t necessarily need to express it, we can begin to access that power, leaving behind the victim, martyr archetypes and other self-defeating behaviours like people pleasing, self-sabotage, frustration, self-sacrifice, perfectionism, or over compliance and conscientiousness. These can be some of the types of behaviours displaid in those that repress anger.
This retreat offers a safe space, with like-minded people, to gently explore what it might be like to feel and express anger, and to possibly get in touch with the feelings of anger as we go through the weekend programme.
Over the two days together you will:
Gain a greater understanding of the impact of emotions on the mind-body.
Be guided on a gentle, dynamic and powerful transformational journey, in which to give you the opportunity to start to get in touch with your own anger and to subsequently start to trust the process of expression and extraction.
Begin to have a greater awareness of the emotional body, and feeling more confident to safely express emotions.
Take home tools to continue to safely express repressed anger and simple techniques, to express any new anger and indeed any other emotions.
Group numbers are kept to a minimum, typically between 12 and 14, to allow an intimacy to develop as the group bonds during the weekend. Further information as to when the next ‘From Anger to Joy’ retreat will be will be posted on the What's On page.
